Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about traveling with Till's debit card for kids
Till is a banking app and debit card for kids that helps them become smarter spenders. Parents can easily send money, and kids can spend anywhere Visa is accepted. Each transaction builds confidence and real-world money skills, so students are ready to manage expenses on their own.
Till works great in everyday life, and it's also perfect for tour. Instead of cash, your tour operator will send meal money and any other included tour funds directly to your student's Till debit card. As a parent, you can send extra funds anytime too, right from the Till app. You'll have full visibility into every transaction, so you always know how your student is spending while they're away.
Your student will receive a temporary Till card from their Tour Director to use during the trip. Please note: With a temporary card, you won't be able to send extra money or see how they're spending, and any unused funds don't carry over as the card is returned at the end of the trip.
No worries! Students or parents can lock the card and report it as lost or stolen in the app and a new card will be issued by Till. If it happens during the trip, your Tour Director can assign your student a temporary card to use for the remainder of the tour. Till cards are designed for kids and teens, so Group Leaders and adult chaperones don't need to sign up. They'll receive a temporary Till card from the Tour Director at the start of the tour.
Great question! This is one of the most common things families ask. As a banking app, Till is legally required to verify your identity. Your SSN is only used for identity verification (we don’t run credit checks), and your information is protected with bank-level encryption.
For student travelers, Till cards are FREE! We waive the $5 card fee courtesy of your tour operator. Till also offers a Premium plan that unlocks additional benefits like cash back rewards, save rewards, no foreign transaction fees, up to 5 cards per family, and more.
Great question! Funding your account is a standard step in opening a Till account and how we ensure your account funding works. It's also how you get money to your child. The money that you add stays in your account until you're ready to push it to your child's card. If you're not planning to use the card this way, no worries! Your tour operator will be able to provide a temporary card for use on the trip.
Yes! The Till app and debit card were designed with kids and families in mind. If a card is lost or stolen, it can be locked instantly in the app. Parents receive notifications for all transactions, so you'll see quickly if there's any unusual activity. Till accounts are FDIC insured up to $250,000 per depositor through Coastal Community Bank, Member FDIC.
